Several years ago, I started a small, periodic project called Winter Trees. The idea is simple and two-fold. I'm producing a small folio of five prints each year of, obviously, winter trees images. The hope is that year after year this project grows into a large collection and may be some measure of my growth as a photographer. By committing to an annual revisit to the same subject, it forces me to expand my vision and think creatively. I love the analogy with the annual appearance of tree rings as they grow. Here is an image from each of the last three folios.
The second aspect of this project is to provide me with motivation to get off my winter butt and get out there in the bad weather and photograph.
I hope there are trees in inner-Mongolia. What a fun addition to this long term project!
