Your pictures are worth more than 1,000 words each!! This is fascinating. Now who, exactly, is going to go out to the Art Palace to see this show?

Brooks - if you see Marko again, you must trade your baseball cap for his army hat. That hat of his is a real souvenir!

Tracymo

Oh. My. Gosh. Winter in Mongolia. Not many will be able to trade notes with you guys about that adventure! Maybe you should've taken battery heated socks!!! How long will the show be up out at the Giant Yurt and will you need to be out there in the cold each day? Is there adequate heat in your hotel rooms? You gotta post pictures of your room, too. Just curious. Your guide said it would be like a Motel 6.

Tracy is right -- getting one of those Chinese Army hats would be really cool!! Do you suppose he would risk the firing squad if he traded his official Army hat for your Cabela's hat with the ear flaps?!? ;-)

I texted you guys a "have a good trip" message when you were at Sea-Tac but didn't know you'd left your cell phone at home. Glad to know you made it there okay.

Have fun and stay warm!

Hi Brooks,
I'm so excited for you. My photographic passion started on my first visit to China. I've been there 18-19 times since, so I definitely can feel your sense of unexpected adventures. The Chinese will have their own ideal of how things are done, and it ain't like how we do it. Besides your photo gear, the only other essentials are: no expectations and a sense of humor. I will be following you on your trip. And eventually introducing myself to you when you return. If you have time in to spare , I have a photographer friend, Guangjun, in Beijing, who owns a photogallery in "798" and photographic store and works with the photographic community in China. You may enjoy meeting him. Stay healthy, try to learn to use chopsticks, and have fun.
Sincerely,
Eddie
PS Guangjun does speak some English and more so, his wife, Vicky

Wait a minute! Does that welcome sign in the lobby say "SPRING International Photographic Week"? lol! Great post! Loved your pics.

Thank for for sharing your unique experiences.
